Wil Comer, a University of Missouri-Columbia Phi Delta Phi alumnus, was recently named to Lawyers of Color’s Inaugural Hot List. 

University of Missouri-Columbia Phi Delta Phi alumnus Wil Comerhas been named by Lawyers of Color, Inc. to its 2013 Lawyers of Color Hot List for the Midwest Region. The inaugural list recognizes 100 early- to mid-career minority attorneys under the age of 40 for their noteworthy accomplishments in the legal profession.

Nominees were chosen by a selection committee that identified candidates through a joint process of peer nominations and independent research. First established in 2008 asOn Being A Black Lawyer, Lawyers of Color has since evolved to includeOn Being A Hispanic LawyerandOn Being A Lawyer of Color. Mr. Comer and his fellow honorees are profiled in the company’s Hot List Special Issue, released in July.

Mr. Comer is a Chicago associate at Segal McCambridge Singer & Mahoney, Ltd. a defense litigation firm with seven offices nationwide. He earned both his Bachelor of Journalism in Advertising (2006) and his Juris Doctor (2009) from University of Missouri-Columbia. Mr. Comer concentrates his practice in products liability, toxic tort and corporate defense litigation. He also has experience in family and administrative law and Social Security disability cases. Mr. Comer is active in several pro bono organizations throughout the Chicago community. He volunteers at Just the Beginning Foundation, Equality Illinois, and the Chicago HELP program, where he successfully represented clients in social security administration hearings. While at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, Mr. Comer worked as a rule 13 certified law student for the Missouri State Public Defender's office. He received a CALI Excellence Award for his work with the Family Violence Clinic, where he represented indigent victims of domestic abuse to obtain orders of protection.
