Michael P. Vargo, Magister of Wood Inn at South Texas College of Law, has been awarded a 2009 Blask Fellowship by the Federal Bar Association.
The Southern District of Texas Chapter of the Federal Bar Association offers Blask Public Service Fellowship grants to select law students who serve as volunteer interns for federal judges or agencies within the Southern District of Texas. The Blask Fellowships are in memory of the Honorable Ronald J. Blask, a former U.S. Attorney and Magistrate Judge in Houston. Judge Blask was a member of Phi Delta Phi’s Hutcheson Inn.
The Federal Bar Association has a storied history with Phi Delta Phi. But one example is the late Malcolm W. Monroe of Louisiana. A former International President of Phi Delta Phi, Mr. Monroe also served as the President of the Federal Bar Association and is the namesake of the Federal Practice Seminar of the Young Lawyers Division of the Federal Bar Association.
