J. Will Pless International Graduate of the Year Guidelines & Application
- Each Inn may enter one candidate who must
be a member of the Society graduating between December 1, 2015 and September
30, 2016. Although the method of selection is entirely within the
discretion of the members of the Inn, the Council recommends that you consider
using a committee composed of Barrister, Faculty, and Inn members.
- When an Inn nominee has been selected, the Magister
shall immediately notify Headquarters by submitting the "Notice of
- At the same time, the original Application and backup materials shall be immediately emailed to Headquarters. ENTRIES
MUST BE EMAILED NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 7 to be considered. The Inn
should retain a copy of the Application its records.
- Headquarters will notify and forward any submitted materials to the Province Presidents. Each Province President will appoint a committee
consisting of himself/herself and two Barrister members who will select the
Province winner from the entries submitted by Inns of that Province. The
Province President will immediately notify Headquarters of the Province winner
and will email Headquarters one copy of the application and backup materials of the
Province winner to be postmarked NO LATER THAN MARCH 7
The Court of
Appeals will select the J. Will Pless International Graduate of the Year from
the various Province winners. The winner will be announced in April to
ensure an opportunity for Inns and law school administrations to give adequate
publicity to the award and its recipient.
The Council and Court sincerely hope that all Magisters and Province Presidents
will comply fully with these instructions and not cause an otherwise qualified
candidate to be disqualified by failing to meet filing deadlines.
The International Graduate of the Year will receive recognition, a specialty Graduate of the Year Certificate and a Lapel Pin.
