Donna L. Butler, Magister of the Penn State University Hall Chapter of the International Legal Honor Society of Phi Delta Phi, organized a personal statement workshop for Phi Delta Phi members and Law and Society majors. On September 9, 2019, third-year Penn State Law student, Shamsiddin Little, gave a Power Point presentation via Zoom Video Communications, in which he discussed the style and content of a personal statement specific to law school applications.  On September 10, 2019, Clinical Professor of Law, Michelle Vollmer, discussed addendums and diversity statements.

Workshop participants then had until September 30, 2019, to post rough drafts of their personal statements to their own private discussion boards on a Canvas pride. Mr. Little and Professor Vollmer critiqued the posts and offered their constructive comments.  The participating students now have corrected copies of their personal statements that they could rewrite and refine as needed before submitting them with their law school applications.
