S. Grier Wells (Cockrell '75), an attorney in the Jacksonville office of GrayRobinson, P.A., has been appointed to serve as the Board Liaison to Florida Lawyers Assistance, Inc. on behalf of The Florida Bar. Florida Lawyers Assistance is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a support system and resources for those in the legal community suffering from substance abuse and mental health disorders.

Wells’ recent appointment stems from his previous chairmanship of a committee which evaluated Florida Lawyers Assistance in its relationship with the Florida Supreme Court and the Florida Board of Bar Examiners.

"The Florida Lawyers Assistance offers bar members a network of peer support and assistance while on the road to recovery,” said GrayRobinson President, Byrd F. "Biff" Marshall, Jr. "We applaud Grier on his appointment to such an important cause.”

An "AV” rated attorney, Wells’ practice areas include construction, employment and labor and insurance law. Wells has served on the Board of Governors of The Florida Bar since 2002 and currently chairs a special committee investigating lawyer referral services. He also serves as Board Liaison to the Labor and Employment Section and the Animal Law Committee. Wells is a former president of the Jacksonville Bar Association and the Jacksonville Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

He received both his juris doctorate and undergraduate degree from the University of Florida.
